West Bradford Energy Planning

West Bradford launches energy planning initiative

Local energy planning can mean energy cost savings for residents and businesses while preserving the safety, landscape, and culture of communities and providing new jobs and services. West Bradford has just started this energy planning.

We have begun the process of preparing a local climate action plan (“LCAP”). This plan will establish the goals, actions, incentives, and strategies to which our community commits to reduce emissions and other environmental impacts.

West Bradford has partnered with the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) and the PA DEP to support our efforts. ICLEI helps local governments and municipalities reach their sustainability goals by providing technical assistance, tools, and expertise. Many municipalities in our region have worked with them to create plans for their communities.

Drexel University interns who are part of this program will be evaluating West Bradford's emissions and working with township volunteers from the Land Preservation and Sustainability Committee, as well as other stakeholders, to develop our LCAP. This plan will allow us to fulfill our township’s commitment to our "Ready for 100" resolution, supporting a 100% renewable energy future.

To create a climate action plan for West Bradford, we will need to hear from families, local industries, and businesses from the township, and we will be asking for your input via a survey and public meetings. An understanding of everyone's role can help preserve West Bradford's environment and ensure it stays a clean, healthy home for our citizens, now and in the future.

We understand that the transition to a cleaner energy environment will take time and the changes required will likely require that we all adjust behavior. Thoughtful planning of the process used to accommodate these changes will be necessary, and we are just getting started. We will need your input to insure our success.
